History
SOS is was started in 1998. We looked at the other framework being used for Coldfusion development and liked it. Yet there were other reasons we choose to do more with SOS. The first version of SOS was a split effort of myself, John Farrar and Forrest Tate.
Version 1
- shared authentication
- presentation handlers
- common admin interface
- shared application platform
Version 2
- Chorus Technology (Allowed JS web service like functions)
- Upgrade authentication schema
Version 3
- Common UDF libraries
- Original Skin Concept
- API and features moved to CFCs
Version 4
- Upgrade Skin Concept, added SEO features internally
- Designed core to be generally Javascript library neutral. (Allow different AJAX libraries to work with all skins.)
- Changed to modular methodology through plug-ins
- Rewrite core API CFCs
- Started using shared folder
- Started using Application.cfc
Current Projects
- JS Validation Library
- COOP (Controller Object Oreinted Programming) Methdology - This will become my favorite way to develop applications, the concept is so cool it will create SOS evangelists!
- Updating Authentication to include user roles settings in addition to groups permission based inheritance (For people who insist on complicating life!)
